I suppose that the fundraising portion of becoming a missionary could very well be the least favorite part of most that have to do it. I, for one, am very excited to travel around the state and meet different pastors and church members to speak about our journey to Ethiopia. I’m excited to share our vision and our passion for what we will be doing. Asking friends and family is a bit tougher, but I have learned through the years that God asks some to go and He asks some to give and then puts those two groups together. We are completely trusting that God will provide fully for what we are so willing and excited to do, but it is going to take some work on our part and we’re ready to do the work.
That being said, I am very excited to announce that we have two pledges already. The first came from the church where I was on staff for 3 1/2 years and I think it is very fitting that they are our first pledge. The second came from dear family friends who are also in the ministry and who have been a part of my life since I was a baby. We feel very loved to have received these pledges. We know that they not only help us meet our budget, but that this church and this family will also bathe our family in prayers throughout our journey and that means so much to us.
This weekend we will be traveling to our first church to introduce our mission and we’re very excited to do that. We are as prepared as we can be and we hope to learn a lot, have some great conversations and meet wonderful people who will join our mission from this side of the ocean.
